SYNOPSIS

Captive is a road movie about Vasanti, recently released from prison and on her way to find her family, and ex-con Chandu. The typical development of their relationship, from animosity to friendship to love, creates emotional reverberations as their struggles in the margins of society unfold. Vasanti is restless in a rural town despite meeting her son. The city, infested with violence and crimes, where Vasanti and Chandu continue their escape ultimately becomes the center of their lives. The selfpurification bath that the two perform in the sacred river before Vasanti goes to meet her son is touching. After the ritual bath, Chandu discards the phone he used to communicate with the gang as he attempts to face the new future.
